DENISE DANNII TAN

Denise is a dancer from Singapore. She started dancing at the age of 13 in Contemporary Dance and Ballet under the tutelage of Zaki Ahmad and Lynn Huang.

Denise graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where she majored in Contemporary Dance and movement studies. She has worked with choreographers such as Christina Chan, Filomar Tariao, Ezekiel Oliveira, Jeffrey Tan and Peter Gn. Her choreographies have also been featured in NAFA's showcase, "Dancers@Work". Her solo work, Beginnings, won the "Best Choreography Award" in the Flux Collective Contemporary Dance Competition in 2018. Denise is a scholarship recipient of NAFA's Talent Development Programme and she achieved the Best Graduate Award and Dean's List Award in 2019.

She then moved to Leeds, UK and furthered her training at Northern School Of Contemporary Dance, obtaining her Bachelor with Honours in Contemporary Dance. She has worked with Anton Lachky, José Agudo, Northern Rascals, Joseph Mercier and Yewande 103. Her solo work, Others, was showcased during "New Ground". Denise also travelled to Melbourne, Australia and performed Skin at the Australian Youth Dance Festival - Revolutions per Min in 2019. She has also collaborated with musician, Sascia Pellegrini, and they showcased their work-in-progress in August 2019. 

Denise is currently based in Leeds, UK, freelancing as a dance artist. She is also teaching contemporary dance to youths and a yoga teacher, teaching students from 20-60 years old. She will also be developing her creative voice through performing and creating, whilst exploring the use of other creative mediums such as photography, film and writing.
